A media filter, commonly known as a sand filter, is one of the most popular swimming pool filtration systems in Australia. Favoured by pool owners for its ease of use and simple cleaning process, a media filter uses a bed of sand or alternative media such as Zeolite or glass to effectively remove fine dirt and debris from pool water. Each Filtrite MF Media Filter features a lightweight, injection-moulded tank that offers high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Viron Active Glass media provides filtration performance that exceeds that of traditional sand media. It is actively charged which means it will attract particles for improved debris removal and can filter down to a particle size of only 5 microns.
Both Course and Fine grade glass are required for a Media Filter for best filtration results. The Finer grade glass with smaller particle sizes is used as the top layer of the media bed inside the filter. This layer provides fine filtration for very small particles of dirt, debris and contaminants. The coarse grade of glass has a larger particle size and is used to cover the laterals under the media bed inside the filter tank.
